May 27 Taroko National ParkToday I woke up at 5:30pm and went with the bus the Taroko National Park. It's an absolute amazing park, surrounded from high mountains. There is a highway in the middle and every 5 kilometers or so are very interesting trails to walk. Sometimes more than 10km long. They were build by the Japanese during the Japanese occupation in early 1900. Every trail is different, I began with the 5th of the 8 trails. This trail was almost 3km long and I had to pass high cliffs, suspension bridges and many tunnels without lights but with BATS. This was a bit scary. After that I went the highway back to the park entrance (around 18km) and I stopped at every trail (4 - 1). There were hidden temples in grottos, unbelievable animals and plants and the biggest insects I ever saw in my live! Almost every second car wanted to pick me up, cause I said, I walk... hehe but at the end, 400m from the entrance I said YES and this nice Taiwanese family took me the entire way back to Hualien and gave me tea and cookies as present FOR FREE! Very nice. You can see all this on the pictures, I will upload soon. Tomorrow I will go back to Taipei with a stop in Yi-Lan and will take a bath in one of these famous Hot Spring Spas. :D Have good night kids! May 25 I'm still alive!OK OK, long time no entry but I was busy hehe. What happend? The following:
I went to Hsinchu on Thursday, its a big city on the west coast of Taiwan, its not so nice cause it seems to be a big constraction site. After checking out the local attractions, I decided to take a bus to Beipu. On the way to this small town in the forests, I met a taiwanese boy, he was maybe 16 or so, he shows me always which bus I have to take, cause I had to change the bus three times. Fortunately he lived in Beipu, perfect! There was just one problem, he couldn't speak english and I can't speak chinese very well. So we communictaed via me chinese phrasebook and his english school book. It was very funny, almost like in "Lost in Translation" :D
In Beipu I was the only tourist, so it was very quiet and the forrest was amazing. You just hear the birds and the water ... I think thats the feeling people have in the rainforest. Anyway I went back from the forrest and was looking for a nice bowl of noodles :). I met a restaurant boss.. he was very nice and told me his story and I got a meal for free! Great :P.
On Friday I went a bit shopping Taipei and met Katie in the afternoon and went with her to her city "Keelung". We had a very nice weekend!
So, today I got my new glasses, the are perfect and tomorrow I will go to Hualien, Taiwans most beautiful city in the east until Friday and than I will meet HJ and HY :D AH I forgot: I watched the new Indy on Thursday! I was disappointed, ok it was nice to see old faces but the story was crap. A-Bombs, Aliens and a "everything will be destroyed before we know what happened" story a la George Lucas. Oh man, very sad, this is not the Indy 4 for the DVD collection! May 21 Taipei, Food and no Hong KongOh my feeds are burning :D. I walked too much in the last hours. But Taipei is very cool, I love this city. I can recommend the Taipei National Palace Museum, very nice Chinese arts from the last 5000 years! Yesterday I went to Danshui, its a nice Town in the north-east of Taiwan, just 30 minutes bei MRT. Now I know why some people here wear breathing protections. There were very small streets with food stands and millions of scooters, so very much smog and my nose began to prickle :D.
Anayway very good food there, later I went with Katie (a very nice taiwanese girl :P) and her friend Daphne to the "Chiang Kai Shek Memorial". A very big building, but that guy seems to be a bad guy in the beginning of the Taiwan Republic so I don't want to talk about him :). Very very cool is the Maokong Gondola. You can fly over Taipei :D. On the mountain is it not so hot, so very pleasant :P. There is a very interesting temple as well, so don't miss to visit!
The girls were not so hungry so I was the only one who at the night market in "Gunting" but the food was still excellent.
However, I decided not to go to Hong Kong. A couple of years ago, it was my dream destination but I don't like it anymore. The tickets were not so expensive, so I can live with that. Instead of HK, I have more time to visit the entire Island..thats even cooler.
May 19 Day 3: Taipei 101, Rain, Food Food Food :D Well it's day three already! Today it was raining .. not heavy but enough to need an umbrella, I guess it was around 20 degrees.. very cold in opposite to yesterday but for me perfect temperature. I decided to go to 101.. the tallest building on the planet. I saw only clouds, so I have to go another day again! Than I walked a bit in this district, I bought a Green Tea + Coffee drink, very yummy ;) and went shopping.. I bought nothing but it was very interesting, I went to a computer market.. dozens of small shops selling everything that's new on the market.... ah I could buy there a lot :P. Ah yesterday we went also to an optician and I bought 2 glasses.. unfortunately it was not so cheap because of my very heavy eye disease but I got two glasses for the price of one in Germany..and I'm sure it was still cheaper. However..it was a waking day for me.. tonight I had dinner with Hui Wen and Kate (I met her as well in the US and damn! we made no picture tonight!). We had delicious beef noodles! Thanks girls, it was very nice! Anyway I'm tired and I go to bed.. .maybe tomorrow night I'm in the mood to upload some pictures. Day 2: Taipei, Friends and food food foodHola! May 18 Amsterdam, Hong Kong = Day 1Well, I'm in Amsterdam, actually at the airport while I write this. The Air Lingus flight was boring, I mean by Ryanair the flight attendees are friendly and they have modern aircrafts and interior , but Air Linugs... ah I won't talk about :). It's very easy to go the city centre from Schiphol Airport, there is a direct train every 10 minutes for € 3,80, thats ok. So I went to the city made 78 pictures hehe and saw my first chinese ceremony and I'm even not in Hong Kong yet :D. Anyway this entry was not direct from Amsterdam, cause they wanted 6 euro for 30 minutes restricted internet.. not with me :D. Anyway now I begin very slowly to realize that I fly to Asia, cause I was not so excited in the last days..weird. Here two Videos from Amsterdam and please see the pictures below :P Update: I'm in Hong Kong now.. boah the flight was exhausting but Hong Kong is great, now I wait here with free WiFi for my connection to Taipei. I look forward to come to HK next week :D. Anyway, all Amsterdam pictures are online! Watch it and leave comments! May 14 It's wednesday..and its nice weather outside! Nothing happened this week but there are only two working days left! Ah I can't wait anymore :P. Tomorrow is a team colleagues birthday in the "Spailpin", that's the nice pub where I dropped the pint two weeks ago Anyway I'm sure the next entry will be from Amsterdam (it depends on free internet at the airport) or from Taiwan! May 08 Wooh.. Indy 4 is coming very soon! Yeah at the 22nd of May "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" is coming to the movies! Unfortunately I have to wait until I come back from Taiwan but I definitely would skip Indy all the time for Taiwan .. don't worry Hui-Jou :P. Only 9 days left and I did nothing yet but I take only some shirts, shorts and my Macbook with me.. so its not so much :D. And I look forward to see Amsterdam, I have 4 hours time to visit the city, I think thats enough for some brownies May 07 For the best Mascha in the world... here a short entry just for Mascha.. and for the case she wants to show this her friends.. in Russian.. I guess there are some terrible mistakes.. but anyway :P May 03 New Layout and I'm tiredHey my new blog layout is online. Live.com isn't that bad and it offers more possibilities to create an own layout as I thought. Anyway hope u all like it. .. ok in the moment there are not so much readers but however :D. Yesterday I went out with some friends to celebrate a team members birthday.. I dropped a pint in a pub and I'm sure the waitress hates me now cause she had to clean it up, but it wasn't my fault I swear :P, someone pushed me! Anyway.. we went to one club or so.. I can't remember anymore Have a nice weekend! PS: please don't use Safari to watch this site, it looks terrible! It best runs in IE and Firefox! Thanks. May 01 What a boring day...today I'm off and it's so boring. It is raining and I'm not in the mood to do anything. So I'm at home cooking spaghetti al carbonara and watching "My Neighbor Totoro". I love that movie :D. Actually I have almost all Ghibli collection dvds. Anyway only 16 days left for Taiwan and Hong Kong and I already planned my next trip in autumn. I want to go to New York and Philadelphia again, visit some friends and enjoy the cheap US life ha ha. Did I tell you that I really love my iPhone.. haha.. ok I stop right now. OK, I hope I can take some pictures of this cool city and show it here someday and in the meantime watch "Lars and the real girl" a fantastic comedy drama with Ryan Gosling. Before I forget my boss is looking for some new German and French agents, if anyone is interesting in working in Ireland go on Jobs.ie |
